DIAMONDS 9 Sarah Walker
    Sarah Walker is a painter living and working on the Beara Peninsula, West Cork. Born in Dublin where she studied Fine Art at the National College of Art and Design, she moved to live permanently in Beara nine years ago. She has been exhibiting with the Hallward gallery in Dublin since 1990 and has exhibited in numerous selected shows around Ireland including EV+A and the Victor Treacy Award Exhibition. In 1994 Sarah Walker represented Ireland in the 26th Festivale de la Peinture, Cagnes sur Mer, France. She has had two solo exhibitions with Galerie Orange, Helsingor, Denmark and took part in an exhibition with six other Irish artists in Boston University, USA in 1997. In spring 2000 the West Cork Arts Centre, Skibbereen had a ten year retrospective of her work and in summer 2000 Sarah Walker opened her own small gallery in Castletownbere, Co Cork where as well as showing her own work she has had successful exhibitions of work by fellow artists living in Beara. Her most recent solo exhibition was at the Fenton Gallery, Cork in April 2001. Her work is in public collections of the Contemporary Irish Art Society, AIB bank, the OPW, Department of Foreign Affairs, First National Building Society and Eircom.
