Rachel Joynt, born in County Kerry in 1966, graduated from the National
College of Art and Design in Dublin in 1989 with a degree in sculpture.
The year before this, she received her first commission, for People's
Island near O'Connell Bridge, Dublin. Her first solo exhibition, Selene,
was shown at the capital's Project Arts Centre and the Arts Council Gallery,
Belfast in 1994, and in the same year she was awarded the Arts Council Macaulay
Fellowship. A residency and exhibition in Marseilles were her contribution
to the L'Imaginaire Irlandais festival in 1996 and she is currently working
on a public commission for the Dun Laoghaire seafront. |
