Paddy Jolley studied at the National College of Art and Design and the
School of Visual Arts in New York where he was awarded an MFA in 1995. He
has exhibited widely including the video installation The Drowning Room
at Galapagos, New York (2001), Studio Gallery, Berlin (2000) and at Meeting
House Square, Dublin (2000); the continuous film projection Suspension
in The Old Schoolhouse, London (1999); the video installation Cleanstreets
at the Yearsly-Spring Gallery, Philadelphia (1997). Photograph exhibitions
include Satellite at the Gallery of Photography, Dublin (1996), Limerick
City Art Gallery (1996) and Galerie Unwahr, Berlin (1995). His work has
been represented in group shows in Florence, Cuba (the 2000 Cuban Biennial)
and the Douglas Hyde Gallery, Dublin, among others. His films have been
screened at many film festivals in Europe and America, and among the awards
he has received are an honourable mention at the Sundance Film Festival
for The Drowning Room (2000), Best Experimental Film at the New York
Underground Film Fest Award for Seven Days 'til Sunday (1999) which
also received the Best New Director Award at the 1998 Cork Film Festival. |
