Stephen Brandes was born in Wolverhampton in 1966. He studied at Bournville
College of Art from 1984 - 1985 and Bath Academy of Art from 1985 - 1988.
One-person exhibitions include Black Country at Galeria Mandala Cracow
in 1991, Amnesia at Jo Rain Gallery, Dublin in 1996 and Guinea
Pigs at the Kevin Kavanagh Gallery, Dublin, 1999. Group shows include
16th John Moores Liverpool Exhibition at the Walker Art Gallery in
Liverpool in 1989, Art of the State - New work of the collection of the
Office of Public Works at the Crawford Municipal Gallery in Cork and
touring 1996, A Metaphor for Ireland, Boston University 1997, EV+A
'98, Limerick City, 1998 and Drawing/Thinking at the Royal Hibernian
Academy Gallery, Dublin in 1999. He is currently working on an MA in fine
art at the National College of Art and Design and curating an exhibition
in a 3-bedroom suburban house called "Suburbia" set for November 2001. |
